Celebrates the State’s Communication Stars
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (Nov. 22, 2024) ─ The Public Relations Society of America Greater Connecticut Chapter (PRSA CT) announced the winners of its 2024 Mercury Awards, which celebrate Connecticut's best work in public relations.

Andrea Obston, owner of Andrea Obston Marketing Communications, has been named PRSA CT's 2024 Practitioner of the Year. With decades of experience in strategic communications, Obston has a reputation for advancing brand narratives and crisis communications, guiding numerous organizations toward impactful community engagement. Lindy Lee Gold, Senior Development Specialist at the State of Connecticut, has been selected for this year’s Beacon Award. With over 25 years of dedication, Gold has led business retention, recruitment, and expansion initiatives across the state while actively contributing to workforce development and education boards. “Congratulations to all the recipients of the 2024 Mercury Awards,” said Elizabeth Walden, president of PRSA Greater Connecticut. “We were thrilled to see strong submissions from across Connecticut, each highlighting our public relations and communications industry's talent, creativity, and impact.”
This year, there are two Best in Show Mercury Award winners. Travelers won Strategic Campaigns Best in Show for its Public Affairs work, “Putting the Brakes on Distracted Driving.” Mintz + Hoke won Tactical Campaigns Best in Show for work in the Websites, External category, “Transforming Customer Experience with a User-Centric Website Redesign.”

The Mercury Awards, the only statewide recognition of industry excellence in Connecticut, were announced during the PRSA Greater Connecticut Chapter’s 2024 Mercury Award Ceremony at the University of Hartford in West Hartford.
PRSA members from the Northeast and Southern states served as this year’s judges. Two judges scored each submission, and the final score was an average of the two. Gold, Silver, and Bronze went to the top three scores in each category.
