The Greater Connecticut Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA CT) on Oct. 25 honored the very best public relations work in Connecticut with its annual Mercury Awards.
Winners included agencies, companies, colleges, non-profits and organizations from across the state, which were recognized for outstanding creative and strategic excellence in 2017-18 following judging by 12 members of the PRSA Central California chapter.
Having received the highest score among entries, Comcast was honored as Best in Show, the pinnacle of excellence in public relations programming for demonstrating strategic value and the ability to drive critical business outcomes, for its integrated communications campaign submission.
Other winners were: Co-Communications; Connecticut Education Association; Webster Bank; CJ Public Relations; Sullivan & LeShane Public Relations, Inc.; Travelers; Connecticut Water Co.; Impact PR & Communications; Mason, Inc.; Southern Connecticut State University; Cheney and Company; The Wire Association International, Inc.; MSE; Albertus Magnus College; and Bristol Hospital and Health Care Group, Inc.
Additionally, PRSA CT bestowed its PRSA Greater Connecticut Practitioner of the Year Award upon Evelyn Gard, associate dean of communications and marketing at Gateway Community College, New Haven, and Housatonic Community College, Bridgeport. The award recognizes outstanding achievement in integrated public affairs services.
Hosted by Matt Scott, meteorologist with FOX61, the “Mercury Awards Fall Soiree: The Art of Communications” was held at the New Britain Museum of American Art. The ceremony was generously sponsored by Sullivan & LeShane Public Relations, Inc., Albertus Magnus College, and Gateway Community College.
